FOSS Weekly #2 - Linux Laptops, Google's new sorting algorithm, and more.
I am continually amazed by how much happens in a week in the world of open source software. This week, the $219 Linux Laptop I've wanted to buy is coming back into production, Kernel Recipies took place in Paris, and several projects are setting ambitious goals such as reducing carbon emissions in data centers. We've also seen Big Tech companies releasing open source tools, funding projects, and collaborating with governmental organisations.

This blog post by Tavis on how he ported 30-year-old Lotus 1-2-3 to Linux
Lotus 1-2-3 is a discontinued spreadsheet program from Lotus Software (later part of IBM). It was the first killer application of the IBM PC, was hugely popular in the 1980s, and significantly contributed to the success of IBM PC-compatibles. [Wikipedia]
Tavis, a vulnerability researcher at Google managed to port Lotus 1-2-3 to Linux. Linux didn't even exist when Lotus 1-2-3 was released!
